Three people, one specific problem

Open the Gait was started in 2026 by three students, one of whom received the prosthetic care this foundation exists to fund for other people.

Leith Fattouh

Co-founder · Executive Director

Leith Fattouh

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Leith has participated in medical missions and seen healthcare disparities in underserved regions firsthand. He is dedicated to bringing prosthetic care to those with no access.

Sam Lababidy

Co-founder

Sam Lababidy

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Sam underwent quadrilateral amputations and received the high-quality prosthetic care that restored his independence. Open the Gait exists because he refused to treat that outcome as something only some people get to have.

Jad Dola

Co-founder

Jad Dola

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Jad also served on medical missions in underserved regions, where the gap between those who receive prosthetic care and those left without it was impossible to overlook.
